Favorite thing about CrossFit: The community and the closeness you feel with all the people when you finish a WOD that you thought was impossible. Favorite CrossFit Quote: “Embrace the Suck!” or “If it was easy it wouldn’t work!” “One Rep at a time, just keep moving!” and our newest “Without each other we don’t get better!”

Why CrossFit: After being a personal trainer for a few years I realized that I could more efficiently help people with their health and fitness goals by training larger groups. It was right about this time I fell into CrossFit, got certified in January 2012 and I haven’t looked back since! “Short work outs, Huge results”

Biography

Mike grew up playing football and wrestling for the Belleville Little Devils through out the 90’s. Attended Freeburg High School and played football and ran track. Received a scholarship to play football at McKendree after missing my entire Senior year at FCHS due to a back injury. After McKendree, I attended SIU-Carbondale where I got my degree in Exercise Science. When I returned home from Carbondale I became a personal trainer at Gold’s Gym in O’Fallon, IL. I left Gold’s to work at a personal training studio where my passion for CrossFit exploded. I then opened CrossFit Nucleus in 2013 in Belleville, IL with my father-in-law Rick Orelt and friend Tony Smith. I work everyday to become a better trainer/coach by reading article after article, watching video after video and chasing every certification that I believe will help my members get better results. Watching people achieve goals they thought were unachievable creates one of the greatest feelings in the world and as a CrossFit coach, I get to feel that everyday!

Why CrossFit? When I graduated college, my normal work out routine was running and playing with random machines at the gym and it became boring over time.  I wanted something with variety that would challenge me.  In 2012 I was introduced to Mike who introduced me to CrossFit and I was instantly hooked!  I love CrossFit because the WOD’s push me every time I walk into the gym.  I have met so many amazing people sharing the same love I have for CrossFit.  Also, I have finished WOD’s I never thought I could do.  CrossFit has made such a positive impact on my life and I love being able to make the same impact on others lives!

Favorite Thing about CrossFit:  My favorite thing about CrossFit is the sense of community and the sense of team spirit, especially at CFN!  Watching groups of people, at all levels, become stronger and fitter together is an awesome experience.  I also love to compete; it challenges both your mental and physical strength.

BIOGRAPHY: While in high school I was a varsity cheerleader for 3 years.  When i graduated, I moved to St. Louis, MO to attend Saint Louis University where i received my Bachelors in Communications and a minor in Marketing.  After graduating from SLU, I continued on to get my Masters in Elementary Education from Lindenwood University.  While working on my Masters, I also work at Althoff Catholic High School as the assistant to the Athletic Director.  I was also the Varsity Cheerleading Coach for 3 years.  This is when I discovered CrossFit and knew one day I would want to get my L1 Certification.  I decided to take on this new and exciting challenge in 2014 with a lot of encouragement from Mike and Zac.  I received my L1 Certification in April 2014 and haven’t looked back since.  Every day I work on building my knowledge and skills to become the best coach I can be!
